The Principal of SRC Aviation, LLC is Steve Cowell. Mr. Cowell is a knowledgeable, seasoned  professional with significant operational and safety experience.  He has in-depth understanding of aviation and airport operations as well as SMS. Steve was a key member of the FAA Office of Airports (ARP) internal SMS development team. HIs experience, knowledge and distinctive education coupled with an outstanding ability to communicate, serves to provide organizations with analysis and expertise at the highest effective level.


Steve has earned the prestigious certificate in Aviation Safety and Security from the University of Southern California, the gold standard worldwide in aviation safety education.


Steve is a former professional pilot with over 18,000 flight hours in domestic and international experience from the airlines to air shows. He has three transport type ratings and served as an FAA appointed Aviation Safety Counselor for  ten years. Mr. Cowell has experience in operations and administration at a municipal airport. 


Steve exceeds all regulatory requirements which serves clients well on multiple levels. He has conducted numerous SRM Panel Facilitations at Category X and large large hub airports, assisted with internal SMS development for the Office of Airports (ARP) as well as the associated FAA Orders.  His experience, knowledge and distinctive education coupled with an outstanding ability to communicate, serves to provide organizations with analysis and expertise at the highest effective level.


Steve was also an active member on the RTCA SC203 Committee for over four years. The RTCA SC203 Committee was charged with assisting in the analysis of hazards and development of policies and procedures for the integration of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV’s  aka “drones”) into the National Airspace System.
